These are our tips for schools:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Consider working hours<\/strong>: For many fathers, this is the main barrier to visiting school.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Address communication to fathers<\/strong>: Invite fathers explicitly and treat them the same as mothers in talks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Encourage students<\/strong> to <strong>ask their father for advice and help<\/strong> and do school tasks together.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch cultural differences<\/strong>: Fathers sometimes seem to have high expectations but often just want their child to have chances they did not have.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organize a focus group<\/strong> with only fathers and ask their ideas on how they can contribute to the school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Organizations for fathers<\/h3>\n<p>There is more attention for the role of fathers in education. At the website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/platformvaderschap.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Platform fatherhood<\/a> you find all organizations and initiatives for fathers inside and outside education.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to highlight the following organizations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.triaspedagogica.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trias Pedagogica<\/a>: offers training, information and help on measure for (expecting) fathers with a migration background.
