Every year, Ouders & Onderwijs studies how parents think about education in the Netherlands. The results are published in spring in an (online) report: Staat van de Ouder.<\/p>\n

Staat van de Ouder 2022: To secondary education All parents and students experience it. The transition from primary to secondary education. It is a moment when parents and their children face practical questions and problems.<\/p>\n

We asked parents for their opinion. And what do we find? There is still much to improve regarding the school advice and the final test. In addition, many parents feel there is too little choice for secondary school. Finally, they are not in favor of three-year broad bridging classes, where children come together who receive lessons at all different levels. The research shows that parents are worried about the quality of education, safety and the atmosphere in large classes. In classes of 26 students or more, students go to school less often with pleasure and feel less safe in the class.<\/p>\n

The negative image of parents does not do justice to the real situation: most parents are a great support for their children and for the school. Parents are generally very positive about the relationship with school. They gladly help with various activities and contribute to the school participation council. Are there points for improvement? Certainly. But one thing is clear: parents and education together achieve the best for all children. In this report, we pay tribute to all parents.<\/p>\n
