Working and learning<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The abbreviation BBL stands for vocational guided learning pathway. Students mainly work and go to school one or two days a week. The focus is on practice. They learn mainly by doing and experiencing. BBL is therefore mainly a combination of working and learning. Your child must be at least 16 years old to follow a BBL course. Study load<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The study load for a BBL course is 850 hours per school year. These hours are divided between school hours and vocational practical training. The school hours are officially called guided education hours. These are the hours your child spends at school for lessons and projects. In a BBL course, your child gets 200 guided education hours each year. Most hours your child works at the recognized learning company. These are the vocational practical training hours. Choice<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Why would your child choose a BBL course? The advantage of a BBL course is that the student learns while working. Your child learns by gaining experience in practice. Does your child not want to sit in school classes? Then a BBL course probably fits your child better. Salary<\/strong><\/h3>\n

During the BBL course, your child has an employment contract with the learning company. That means your child also gets a salary. In a BBL course, the salary for 18 to 20 year olds is lower than the legal minimum wage. The learning company pays students from 21 years old at least the minimum wage. The government decided this to increase the number of learning work places. On the overview page of the government you read the amount your child has the right to<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Student finance<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If your child follows a BBL course, there is no right to student finance or an OV year card.
