All students in group 8 take this test. This applies to students in regular education, special education, and special primary education.<\/p>\n<p>The secondary school transition test measures what your child has learned in eight years at primary school in reading, language use, and math. The result of the secondary school transition test, the test advice, gives an independent advice about which type of secondary school best suits your child.<\/p>\n<p>The secondary school transition test is an independent extra check on <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/naar-de-middelbare-school\/schooladvies\/\">your child&#8217;s school advice<\/a>: did the school assess your child&#8217;s level correctly?<\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"knop","knop":{"title":"School advice in grade 8","url":"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/en\/school-advice-in-grade-8\/","target":""},"kleur":"primary"},{"acf_fc_layout":"extra_inhoud_blok","inhoud":"<h3>When is the secondary school transition test for group 8?<\/h3>\n<p>The secondary school transition test for group 8 will take place this school year between 26 January and 15 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Schools that use the digital secondary school transition test choose for themselves when to give the test within this period.<\/p>\n<p>If your child&#8217;s school chooses a paper test, all students must always take it at the same time. This prevents questions and answers from leaking. It can be on paper or digital on a computer. This depends on the options of the test the school chooses. In some schools, children can choose. Sometimes the school gives part on paper and part digitally.<\/p>\n<h3>What is adaptive testing?<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes adaptive testing is possible. Adaptive testing means the test changes during the test to match your child&#8217;s level.<\/p>\n<p>If your child does well, the questions get harder. If it is harder, the questions get easier. This way your child gets a tailored secondary school transition test. Adaptive test is always digital.<\/p>\n<h3>Different secondary school transition tests<\/h3>\n<p>Each school decides which secondary school transition test to use. They choose a final test for group 8 that has agreement. All students of the school take the same secondary school transition test. The school participation council talks with the school about the choice for one of these secondary school transition tests.<\/p>\n<p>Schools can choose from these secondary school transition tests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/amn.nl\/onderwijs\/doorstroomtoets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMN secondary school transition test<\/a>, digital and adaptive.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dia.nl\/basisonderwijs\/doorstroomtoets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dia test<\/a>, digital.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bureau-ice.nl\/basisonderwijs\/iep-doorstroomtoets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IEP secondary school transition test<\/a>, digital adaptive and paper.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cito.nl\/onderwijs\/primair-onderwijs\/leerling-in-beeld-doorstroomtoets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student in view &#8211; secondary school transition test<\/a>, digital and paper.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/a-vision.nu\/doorstroomtoets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Route 8 secondary school transition test<\/a>, digital and adaptive.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doe.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DOE test<\/a>, digital and adaptive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The College of Tests and Exams is responsible for the acceptance of secondary school transition tests. If you and your child want to, they can still take it. These students do not need to take the test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students with an exit profile vso labor market or vso day care, written and supported in the development perspective plan of the student.<\/li>\n<li>Students with an IQ under 75.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have been in the Netherlands for less than 4 years and do not know Dutch well enough.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/view.publitas.com\/bureau-ice\/infographic-moet-deze-leerling-een-eindtoets-maken-primair-onderwijs-bureau-ice\/page\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this table (PDF)<\/a> to check if your child is an exception.<\/p>\n<p>Students who skip group 8 in primary school and leave after group 7 can take the secondary school transition test in group 7. If your child repeats group 8, they must retake the test next school year.<\/p>\n<h3>Adjusted secondary school transition test<\/h3>\n<p>If your child needs special support, like help with dyslexia, and needs an adapted version, that is possible. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/onderwerpen\/schooladvies-en-doorstroomtoets-basisschool\/vraag-en-antwoord\/aangepaste-doorstroomtoets-kinderen-met-beperking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All secondary school transition tests have adapted versions.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ask the school early in group 8 what options are for your child and which test fits your child&#8217;s needs the best.
