Complaints about exams<\/h3>\n

Due to (unforeseen) circumstances, your child may be disadvantaged during the exam period. In most cases it is good to file a complaint, both at school and with the LAKS. The action you take depends on the situation. <\/span>

\n<\/span>Below are 7 situations during the exam where you can file a complaint or where the school must look for a tailored solution together with you:<\/p>\n

  2. Too late for the exam<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Sick or serious situation (death in family)<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Organizational problems during the exams<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  5. Did not get support or extra time<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n
  6. Disciplinary measure<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n

    1. Error in the exam<\/h3>\n

    Was there an error in the exam? Was a question unclear? Or were there French words in the Dutch exam? Was an answer on the answer sheet incomplete?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    These are problems during the exams that your child can report to the LAKS<\/a>. Filing a complaint about errors can help make the grade fairer.<\/span><\/p>\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"extra_inhoud_blok","inhoud":"

    2. Too late for the exam<\/h3>\n

    Your child can join up to half an hour after the exam starts. Is your child more than half an hour late? Then your child can no longer take the exam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In that case, immediately inform the principal. The principal will decide if your child had a good reason to be late. The principal also decides the next steps.     3. Sick or serious situation (death in family)<\/h3>\n

    Is your child sick? Or did something else happen that stops your child from taking the exam? For example, an epileptic seizure just before the exam or a death in the family? In these cases it is usually best to report your child as sick.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Contact the principal of the school as soon as possible. The principal will decide if your child has a good reason to miss the exam and what the next steps are. You will get this in writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    4. Organizational problems during the exams<\/h3>\n

    Was there noise? Did the exam start late? Or were there other problems with the exam organization? Contact the exam secretary of the school as soon as possible. Also let your child file a complaint with the LAKS<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    5. Support or extra time not received<\/h3>\n

    Sometimes your child does not get the support or extra time they were given. This is very upsetting. Has this happened to your child? Then contact the exam secretary of the school as soon as possible. Also ask your child to report this complaint to LAKS<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Were big mistakes made?     6. Penalty<\/h3>\n

    Did your child break the rules at school? For example, cheating or using the wrong calculator? And did they get punished for it? Then you will get a written notice.<\/span><\/p>\n

    7. Fraud<\/h3>\n

    Sometimes fraud is found. In that case, the education inspectorate can decide to declare the exams invalid. If that happens, your child must retake the exams. The school will inform you about the next steps.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Retaking or making up exams<\/h3>\n

    Does one of the above situations apply to your child? And must they retake one or more exams? Then most times this can happen in the second exam period.
