Students in the practical education track are trained for the job market or further studies. This education has admission requirements and needs a declaration of admissibility from the partnership tailored education.","inhoud":"<h3>Practical education track<\/h3>\n<p>In the practical education track, children mainly learn from practice. There is also a lot of attention for your child. The classes are small and each child has their own education plan. Every student gets intensive, personal guidance. In this type of education, your child gets at least 1,000 hours of education per school year.<\/p>\n<h3>What age?<\/h3>\n<p>A student can start practical education directly after primary school and sometimes during the first year of secondary school. Students can stay until the end of the school year in which they turn 18. In special cases, the education inspectorate can extend this by one year. Most students follow five years of practical education.<\/p>\n<h3>What does your child learn?<\/h3>\n<p>The practical education track prepares your child for the job market or further education. The basis is that a child goes to school and does an internship. Most schools have a lower level of two years. There your child learns basic skills and gets general subjects. At the same time, your child can explore different sectors of the job market. There is also much <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/passend-onderwijs\/\">attention for the general development of your child<\/a>. The upper level usually lasts three years and focuses more on internships and guiding towards work. There are three types of subjects at school:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>General subjects<\/strong>: these are language, math, computer science, and physical education. These are not given according to fixed programs like in other school types. Each student&#8217;s individual needs come first. The lessons are adapted to each student and not based on a general program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subjects that develop your child as a person<\/strong>: these are practical skills like cooking, household repairs, paying bills, filling in forms, and personal hygiene. There is also room for your child&#8217;s personal development. The school focuses on teaching social skills and how to get along with others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Practical subjects focused on work and internships<\/strong>: these subjects prepare your child for a job in the job market. They focus on jobs your child can do later. The offer varies per school and the subjects fit the region&#8217;s possibilities. Together with the municipality, the school may choose to teach subjects for the warehouse, hospitality, construction, or retail. In the upper level, the internship is an important part of the education. A good internship helps your child find a job after finishing practical education. It is often possible to get branch certificates and diplomas during practical education. This helps your child find a job.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Diploma<\/h3>\n<p>After finishing practical education, your child gets a diploma. This helps them look for a job or continue at mbo-1. Sometimes it is possible to get an mbo-1 diploma during practical education and move on to mbo-2. The school diploma has no national exam with national final goals and core objectives. The diploma links to a personal portfolio that shows the results the student achieved.<\/p>\n<h3>Individual student<\/h3>\n<p>Practical education focuses on the individual student and makes an individual development perspective plan for each student. This plan shows what the student will do to prepare for their own future. It covers the themes living, working, free time, and citizenship. The plan also shows the type of work the student is expected to do after education. Each student has their own learning route. The plan is made together with the student and parents.<\/p>\n<h3>Admission<\/h3>\n<p>Admission to practical education needs a declaration of admissibility from the partnership tailored education. The school requests this. Usually, the primary school is involved too. If the primary school thinks your child can join practical education, the school asks the partnership for tests. This happens at the start of grade 8. Your child takes a test to measure reading, spelling, math, and reading comprehension. An intelligence test is also needed. Sometimes the school asks for extra tests, for example for a condition that limits learning. These tests are done by a registered educational psychologist or psychologist. Parents need to give permission for these tests. Based on the results, the school checks if your child can go to practical education.<\/p>\n<p>National criteria apply to admission to practical education. Your child must meet these to get a declaration of admissibility. Your child fits practical education if:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The IQ is between 55 and 80,<\/li>\n<li>There is a learning delay of three years or more in two of these areas: visual math, reading comprehension, technical reading, and spelling. The school, parents, and partnership tailored education decide this together. One reason can be that the student is very motivated or has an excellent work attitude. The practical school can also say they think the student fits better at a vmbo school with pathway support. In that case, practical education looks for a suitable school.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Department with special profile<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Besides regular departments, the school can have a department with a <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/naar-de-middelbare-school\/voortgezet-onderwijs-scholen\/\">special profile<\/a>. The school cannot make extra conditions for admission to the school. However, for placement in profile classes, the school can have extra demands. For example, a school focused on sports may ask your child to do a sports test. For admission to a bilingual class, a skill test can be used.<\/p>\n<h3>Disagree with practical education enrollment<\/h3>\n<p>If you do not agree with enrolling your child in practical education, you can choose to sign up your child at vmbo. A secondary school may place a student in another school type than the advice if parents ask for it. The vmbo school checks if they can offer support, maybe with help from the partnership tailored education. Some students qualify for <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/mbo\/soorten-en-niveaus\/\">pathway support<\/a>.
