Your child develops and learns at school, and also learns and practices at home.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing experiences can be very helpful for your child&#8217;s development. That is why good cooperation between parents and school is important. This way, your child is supported and encouraged both at home and at school. They fit together.<\/p>\n<h3>Trust and communication<\/h3>\n<p>Open and honest communication between school and you as a parent is a good base for a positive relationship. Do it in an open and constructive way.<\/li>\n<li>Share the positive developments and successes of your child; this helps the teacher get a full picture of your child&#8217;s development.<\/li>\n<li>Help at school if you can.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Parent involvement<\/h3>\n<p>There are many ways as a <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/relatie-ouders-en-school\/ouderbetrokkenheid\/\">parent to be involved<\/a> in your child&#8217;s education. Think of helping with activities, school trips, or events, or by joining the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/relatie-ouders-en-school\/ouderraad\/\">parent council<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/medezeggenschap\/medezeggenschapsraad\/\">school participation council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You also play an important role at home by helping with homework, reading together, or showing interest in school progress.<\/p>\n<h3>The school&#8217;s role<\/h3>\n<p>The school has a very important role in cooperating with parents. An open school culture where parents feel welcome makes it easier to ask questions or join activities.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers can inform parents about the child&#8217;s progress, learning goals, and possible support. Every school must have a <a href=\"https:\/\/wp-staging.oudersenonderwijs.nl\/kennisbank\/school-organisatie\/algemene-informatie-over-de-school\/schoolgids\/\">school guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>A prize for parent friendliness<\/h3>\n<p>In 2024, Ouders &amp; Onderwijs turned ten years old. To celebrate, we searched for the most parent-friendly schools in the Netherlands. This search gave two winners: a primary school and a secondary school. We gave these schools an award.
