Does your child receive extra support at school? Or does your child go to special education? Then you might hear about the development perspective plan, shortened as development perspective plan. What exactly is it? When is it made? And what does it mean for you as a parent?<\/p>\n","inhoud":"

What is a development perspective plan?<\/h3>\n

A development perspective plan is a plan that shows your child’s support needs. You will also find in the plan what steps the school takes to help your child and what your child needs to learn well at school. The school makes a development perspective plan if your child needs more support than the basic support the school offers.<\/p>\n

At schools for (secondary) special education<\/a>, special primary education<\/a> and practical education track<\/a> a development perspective plan is mandatory for every child. At a regular primary or secondary school a development perspective plan can be made to keep agreements on support. If your child receives extra support<\/a>, a development perspective plan is mandatory.<\/p>\n

The school must make the development perspective plan within six weeks after it becomes clear that your child needs extra help. This belongs to the duty of care<\/a> of the school.<\/p>\n

What is in a development perspective plan?<\/h3>\n

A development perspective plan consists of two parts:<\/p>\n

1. The final destination<\/strong>
\nThis part is about your child’s expected future: to which level or type of education can your child probably progress? Or is it better for your child to eventually go to day care or work (for example through mbo level 1). The school explains why they think this way and describes your child’s strengths and challenges.<\/p>\n

2. The action part<\/strong>
\nThis part shows what support and guidance your child receives to reach the goals. It also shows who does what. What does the school do and what can you do at home? Your signature as a parent is needed for the action part.<\/p>\n

The school discusses the development perspective plan at least once a school year with you as a parent and your child. This way you can look together if the plan still fits your child’s development.<\/p>\n

Who makes the development perspective plan?<\/h3>\n

The school makes the development perspective plan. They never do this without consulting you. Often an internal support coordinator or care coordinator helps with making it. You know your child best, so your opinion matters.<\/p>\n

The school sends you a first version of the development perspective plan and discusses it with you and your child. Only then the plan becomes final. Your child has hearing rights when the development perspective plan is made. This means your child can say what he or she needs. The school must listen and explain what will be done with it.<\/p>\n

What if you do not agree with the development perspective plan?<\/h3>\n
