There is a lot of attention for self-confidence, behavior, and how to learn. Special primary education is intended for children who need more guidance or a different approach than a regular primary school can offer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Characteristics of special primary education schools:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The classes are smaller, so teachers have more time to help students;<\/li>\n<li>Children work at their own pace;<\/li>\n<li>Children receive lessons in a way that better fits how they learn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The goals of special primary education are the same as in regular primary education, but the path to them is more flexible.<\/p>\n<h3>Who is special primary education for?<\/h3>\n<p>When is special primary education a logical step? Children can attend a special primary education school if they:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have difficulty learning or concentrating;<\/li>\n<li>need extra support with social contact;<\/li>\n<li>get overstimulated more easily;<\/li>\n<li>need more structure;<\/li>\n<li>or have learning problems with, for example, language or math, where they do not get enough support at the regular primary school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sometimes multiple things play a role at the same time. The school and the <a href=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/en\/knowledge-base\/25827-2\/partnership-tailored-education-and-the-parent-and-youth-support-point\/\">partnership tailored education<\/a> then work together with parents to see what the child needs.<\/p>\n<h3>What is the difference between special primary education and special education?<\/h3>\n<p>Both special primary education and special education are separate schools, not special classes within a regular primary school. The parents and school have looked together at what the child needs.<\/p>\n<p>If the development perspective plan shows that support at the current school is not possible, the school and the partnership tailored education discuss whether a special education or special primary education school suits your child.<\/p>\n<p>Only when they agree can your child go to a new school. Your child then gets a <a href=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/en\/knowledge-base\/25827-2\/declaration-of-admissibility-special-education\/\">declaration of admissibility<\/a>. Some children return to regular education after a while. Others continue after special primary education to (secondary) special education or the <a href=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/en\/practical-education-track\/\">practical education track<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>How is your child admitted?<\/h3>\n<p>Your child cannot just go to special primary education. A declaration is needed. This is called a declaration of admissibility. The regular school applies for it in consultation with parents. The <a href=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/en\/knowledge-base\/25827-2\/partnership-tailored-education-and-the-parent-and-youth-support-point\/\">partnership tailored education<\/a> assesses whether special primary education is the right place.<\/p>\n<p>If the partnership tailored education agrees, your child gets a declaration of admissibility.
