Currently, in primary education, the rule is that a whole class must stay at home if one student tests positive for coronavirus. Newspaper Trouw reports on monday that this caused hundreds of primary schools to start the school year without lessons. This causes problems at schools, where lessons are cancelled right at the start of the year.<\/p>\n
The advice means that soon the whole class will not have to stay home, but only the student who was in close contact with an infected child. This student can then follow lessons remotely.<\/p>\n
According to OMT, it is wise to start this easing in two weeks (so from september 20). OMT member and chair of the Association for Pediatrics K\u00e1roly Illy says to the newspaper that it can happen. \u201cBy then, the risks we face will be much lower.\u201d The advice applies for all primary school students and also for childcare and after-school care. \u201cBasically, it applies to all children under twelve years old.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very happy for many children that this measure can be lifted in a few weeks,\u201d says Illy. Ouders & Onderwijs is also positive about the advice. It creates clarity for students and parents and can prevent unnecessary lesson cancellations. Parents will therefore less often have to unexpectedly look after their children.<\/p>\n
