Tailored education<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Five years ago tailored education was introduced. The goal was a fitting education place for every child, including children who need extra support. In recent years there has been a lot of criticism from parents and education about the tailored education policy. Among others the bureaucracy and the unclear expectations for schools when a child needs extra support are problems. Also there often seems to be no money, while the reserves of the Partnership Tailored Education and schools have grown. Parents feel their child is not welcome at (regular) schools and are sent from pillar to post.<\/p>\n

Last year Minister Slob presented a plan with 25 improvement proposals. Now we are almost a year further and improvement tracks have been set up in several areas. The question is if it goes fast enough and if the plans are ambitious enough to really make a difference for these children.<\/p>\n

Phone<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ouders & Onderwijs talks every year with thousands of parents about tailored education. The phone is still ringing off the hook on this topic. One of the parents who contacted us was Legustha Andriessen. She got stuck at school with her chronically ill daughter and experienced almost everything that can go wrong in practice. Fortunately she has now found a school where they really properly fill in tailored education. This shows there are big differences between schools when it comes to tailored education. Why does it work at one school and not at another? Legustha could share about this from practice and wanted to share her knowledge and experience with other parents.<\/p>\n
