More parents are satisfied (43%) than dissatisfied (27%) with the learning method used. A large majority (97%) of parents support more transparency from publishers about the changes they make to teaching methods.<\/p>\n

Pressure<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Last month NRC reported in an article<\/a> that some publishers adjust teaching methods due to outside pressure. Most parents in the survey said they are satisfied with the methods used. A large majority of 78% find that changes to methods due to outside pressure are undesirable.<\/p>\n

Openness<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Lobke Vlaming, director of Ouders & Onderwijs, calls in NRC for more openness. \u2018When making teaching methods, choices are always made about what to include or not. But it is not good that schools and parents have no insight into which choices are made. Therefore, publishers should be more open about this. Schools can then decide together with parents which methods they choose.\u2019<\/p>\n

Insufficient Information<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Another striking result from the survey is that a large group of parents (46%) say they have insufficient information about the methods used at school. Schools can also do more to explain to parents which teaching methods are used and what considerations play a role in choosing a method.<\/p>\n
