At MBO schools both parents and students are welcome. In secondary education, this is different. Adults are only welcome in secondary special education (VSO), practical education track (PRO) and at VMBO BB\/KB. For the other school types and levels, students can participate independently in activities organized by the school. It is important that the student wears a face mask when moving around the school. The school can also still organize online activities. It is up to the school to decide.<\/p>\n

Research<\/h3>\n

Last year the rules were stricter, and schools organized different types of online open days<\/a>. Our research among parents<\/a> in the Landelijk Ouderpanel<\/a> showed that many parents with children in group 8 were worried about choosing a secondary school. Parents wanted to be able to ask specific questions to teachers and students. This was harder online. Half of the parents thought the primary school should play an active role. For example, by inviting secondary school teachers.<\/p>\n

Advice<\/h3>\n

The best advice to parents is to check the schools\u2019 websites for the latest information, including sign-up for online meetings. You can also find information about extra subjects like sports or culture, offered subjects, class times and support for students with care needs.<\/p>\n
