Letter to the House of Representatives<\/h3>\n

Before this debate, Ouders & Onderwijs, together with 22 other student and parent organizations, sent a letter to the House of Representatives. Doubts about ambition 2035<\/h3>\n

The ambition to realize inclusive education in 2035 is widely supported. At the same time, many parties doubt whether this is achievable. The main reason: the preconditions are not yet in order. Think of smaller classes and enough support for teachers. Without that foundation, inclusive education will be difficult to implement.<\/p>\n

More frequent talks about tailored education<\/h3>\n

Notably, several parties indicated that speaking once a year about tailored education is not enough. Certainly not with the current ambitions. It therefore seems that from this fall, the House will hold committee debates on tailored education twice a year.<\/p>\n

Concrete plans coming soon<\/h3>\n

Important steps are planned for the coming years. At the beginning of 2027, a transition plan is expected, with concrete goals and a financial basis for the switch to inclusive education. Work is also underway on a bill to legally anchor inclusive education, with a planned introduction in 2028.<\/p>\n

In addition, more room will be created for customization within tailored education. A bill on this will go into internet consultation before the summer of 2026.<\/p>\n

Continued attention for out\u2011of\u2011school children<\/h3>\n

During the debate, there was also much attention for children who are out of school without tailored education. D66 indicated that they want to restart the initiative law ‘right to education.’ This law should ensure that every child actually receives education that suits them.<\/p>\n

For parents, little will change in the short term, but in the coming years, these plans can have major consequences. It is therefore important to keep following the developments.
