For example, 85% help their child with schoolwork at home and 84% talk at school about their child&#8217;s development. Many fathers also take educational activities themselves, such as a museum visit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25163 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"465\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf1.png 465w, https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf1-250x138.png 250w, https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf1-120x66.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ways fathers are involved now match well with how they want to be more involved. A large majority say they want to keep helping their child at home and stay in conversation with school. Fathers say this means they are less directly addressed or informed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-25164 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf2.png 415w, https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf2-250x96.png 250w, https:\/\/oudersenonderwijs.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/grf2-120x46.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>What can schools do better?<\/h3>\n<p>According to fathers, there are clear areas for improvement for schools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate actively with both parents and do not automatically focus on the mother<\/li>\n<li>Plan meetings well in advance and consider working hours<\/li>\n<li>Create more opportunities to think along at school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fathers say they especially want to feel taken seriously. Involvement is, in their view, a shared responsibility between school and parents.<\/p>\n<h3>Proud fathers<\/h3>\n<p>Fathers are especially proud of their child. They mention not only school achievements but also the personal and social development.
