School guide and other information.

As a parent you want to know what the school expects from you and your child. And what you can expect from the school. Every school has a school guide. What is in it? And is this required for every school?

What is in the school guide?

The school guide has a lot of practical information about the school and your child’s education. The school makes the guide with the school participation council. A new edition comes out every school year. You can also find it on the school’s website.

As a parent you know exactly how each school year looks for your child, where school trips go, and when vacations and days off are. Some topics are so important that the law says they must be in the school guide, such as:

Difference between primary and secondary school

The school guide of a primary school must say how the school handles education disadvantages in group 1 and group 2. It also must say the rules about exemptions and how school and after school care is arranged.

The secondary school guide must give information about how the first two years are set up for your child. It describes the different school subjects and parts like basic skills and ways to learn. You can also read about how the staff is used. It also tells more about any social internship and the student participation policy.

Where can I find the school guide?

Every school must have a school guide. Parents must get it on paper or digital at the start of the school year. Most schools also put the guide on their website. After you receive it, the school cannot change the contents easily.
