Complaint about privacy at school 

Every school must follow the privacy rules. Sometimes something goes wrong. You can then take several steps. First discuss your concerns with the school. If that does not help you can file a complaint or report to the Authority personal data. 

Inside the school 

The school must have clear policy about privacy. For parents it is clear what the school rules about privacy are and where you can go with a complaint or problem. First look at this information if you disagree with how things are done. If you have a complaint about the school it is important to first discuss it with the school itself. Is it about an incident? Then you can best try to solve it with the involved school employee, the school director or the school governing body. Do you see that it is a problem that affects the whole school? Then contact the data protection officer at school. This person supervises the rules inside the school. 

School participation council 

Parents talk about the policy about privacy and the processing of personal data. The school participation council has the right of agreement over the agreement about the use of personal data. If the school wants to set or change rules the school participation council must be asked for agreement. You can also inform the school participation council about problems around privacy so they can look carefully at the school policy. 

File a complaint 

If you cannot come to an agreement with the school you can file a complaint according to the complaints procedure of the school. More information about filing a formal complaint is in the school guide or the complaints regulations. 

Data protection officer
