7 tips for Christmas with your child(ren).
Christmas with children is cozy, sometimes chaotic and almost never like you see in Christmas ads. And that is perfectly fine. Read our 7 tips for a cozy Christmas: for your children and for yourself.
Do something creative together
Make Christmas drawings, cut and paste or draw Christmas cards for family. It is not about the result, but about having fun together.
Involve your children in the preparations
Let your children help set and decorate the table, plan the menu or choose a dessert. Your child feels involved and it saves you some thinking.
Take sensory overload into account
Christmas can be busy: visitors, lights, noise. Plan some quiet moments, especially for children who get easily overwhelmed.
Make the food child-friendly
A Christmas dinner does not have to be fully ‘adult’. Fries on the side or decorating your own dessert? That is totally fine! Happy children at the table also count.
Go outside for a while
A short walk, a bike ride or going to the playground together. Being outside helps to release tension.
Play a game that everyone understands
A card game, board game or simple dice game. Something where joining is as fun as winning. And dropping out is allowed.
Watch something together that makes everyone happy
A Christmas movie, a favorite series or something else everyone likes: with cozy blankets and popcorn it quickly becomes a nice moment together.
