Minister Rianne Letschert and State Secretary Judith Tielen Start Working on Education.
Today the new cabinet, led by Prime Minister Rob Jetten, was officially sworn in. With this, the new ministers at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science have started: Rianne Letschert (D66) as minister and Judith Tielen (VVD) as state secretary.
Rianne Letschert Becomes Minister of Education, Culture and Science
Rianne Letschert Is a well-known name in higher education. She was rector magnificus and later chair of the Executive Board of Maastricht University. She also played an important role as informateur in forming the new minority cabinet.
Responsibilities
As minister, Letschert is responsible for, among others, the mbo, higher education, science, and cultural and media policy.
Judith Tielen Becomes State Secretary OCW and Oversees Primary and Secondary Education
Judith Tielen Has a background in medicine and care policy. Since 2017, she has been a member of the House of Representatives for the VVD. Before that, she worked in care, local politics, and as an entrepreneur. In the House, she focused on care, youth policy, and earlier on education.
Responsibilities
Tielen is responsible for primary and secondary education. This also includes Tailored Education. Together with Minister Letschert, she forms the political leadership of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
