Result of retakes: failed or passed?.

30 June 2026 News

Today, students in the final exam year receive the results of their resits. For many students and their parents, this is a tense moment. Not yet in the exam year? It may also be tense to find out if you have to repeat the school year or not.

Failed or passed?

Did your child take the resit? Then of course we hope for good news! If your child still passed, that is a nice ending to an intensive period. Congratulations!

If the result is different, it can be a disappointment. Give your child space to process this and calmly look at the options for next year. Schools can explain the follow-up and what steps are needed.

Not in the exam year? Moving up or repeating

For students who are not yet in the exam year, this is also a period of tension: will they move up or have to repeat the year? The decision lies with the school, but there are rules and agreements. It is good to know exactly how this works and what you as a parent can do if you have questions or concerns.
