Week against bullying: these organizations are here to help.

22 September 2026 News

Every year in September the week against bullying is organized by the Foundation School & Safety.

The start of the school year is an important moment to work together on a safe atmosphere at school. This year’s theme is ‘a place for everyone! right?’. Because a school is only safe when every student belongs and feels accepted.

Unfortunately this week is still very much needed and bullying can have serious consequences for children and young people. Fortunately there are several organizations you can turn to for information, advice, support and training. This overview tells you more about them.

1. stop bullying now: information, knowledge and training about bullying

Stop bullying now is a knowledge, information and expertise center about bullying, online bullying and social safety. They also offer:

  • free teaching materials;
  • knowledge and information;
  • practical tools;
  • training, workshops and courses via the stop bullying now academy.

The information is intended for schools, parents, sports clubs, care institutions and other organizations that may deal with bullying.

Stop bullying now emphasizes that bullying does not only take place between a bully and the person being bullied. Bullying happens within a group. Bystanders and adults therefore also have an important role.

2. the rainbow desk: support with bullying and insecurity around lgbti+

The rainbow desk is a national reporting point for people who feel unsafe because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Students, parents and school staff can share their experiences and get support. A report can be made anonymously.

Do you want the desk to think along with the school? then the rainbow desk can help find a solution. If that does not work or the situation is too unsafe, it can also support follow-up steps. Think, for example, of a report to the education inspectorate or a discrimination reporting point.

3. dealing with bullying: prevention and social resilience

Dealing with bullying focuses on preventing bullying, social resilience and group dynamics.

Children and young people can participate in stand strong trainings, workshops and anti-bullying programs. Children learn here, for example, how to react when they are bullied themselves or see someone else being bullied. This teaches them how to stand up for themselves and others.

The organization works both preventively and when there is already a problem. In 2025, according to the organization, 5,136 children and young people were helped by the trainers.

4. attention to bullying: information and online support

Attention to bullying is a national support point for people who deal with bullying. They offer knowledge and information in the area of social safety, unwanted behavior and bullying.

There is also special attention for people with a (mild) intellectual disability who are bullied. They also have a special accessible part of their website for this group.

Children, young people, their parents, and adults (including seniors), organizations and (educational) institutions can turn to them for information, products and inspiration.
