Our organization.

Who are we? 

Ouders & Onderwijs is an organization for all parents with children of school age. Ouders & Onderwijs works for the best education for our children. To achieve this, it is important that the voice of parents is heard. And that parents are well informed. That is why we help parents by informing and advising them about everything related to education. We also represent parents towards politics, the education sector, and the media. Through our National Parent Panel, where more than 8,600 parents are connected, we know what parents think and feel. Ouders & Onderwijs does two things: we strengthen and represent parents.

Strengthening parents

Our organization helps parents by strengthening them. We answer their questions and give focused advice. With a small team of 17 people, we are ready every day to answer questions. Among other ways, via the knowledge base on our website or by phone, personal advice through the advice point, and by staying in contact with parents by email, WhatsApp and social media. We answer more than 15,000 parent questions each year.

We inform parents in the following ways: 

• Personal advice via the advice point 
• Detailed information via the knowledge base on the website
• Stay informed through the newsletter  
• The latest news via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram

Representing parents

Ouders & Onderwijs represents the voice of parents in politics, schools and education. Our theme advisers bring parents’ voices to meetings with schools, politics, government and education organizations. Our political adviser works on our lobby on important topics. And through our National Parent Panel we regularly survey the opinion of over 8,500 parents. This way we really know what parents think.

We represent parents by:

• Bringing the parents’ perspective to meetings with politics, government and education organizations.
• Letting their voice be heard in the media.
• Research and surveys about parents’ opinions in the National Parent Panel.
• Annual research among parents about important education topics in the state of the parent.

What are our focus points? 

Our organization deals with all subjects around education. Within this, there are some subjects and themes we find extra important. This can be because these subjects are very important for parents or because parents worry about a certain subject. These themes are: 

• Tailored education

• School participation council
  
• Parents’ rights 
• The education system

How can we exist?
