View schoolwork and tests.

Do you want to see your child's schoolwork? You can! We explain what you can expect.

Seeing tests from the student monitoring system

The most used student monitoring system tests at primary school are from Cito, but there are other providers too. You can always see a test. The law says so. There is no ban from test providers on seeing the test, but the questions may not be shared (this is called copyright). It is not always useful to see the test. The goal of the test is to see how your child develops. It also gives the teacher more information to set up the education. So it does not matter if your child answers all questions right.

Exceptions

In some situations, it is more clearly stated what rights parents and pupils have. You and your child always have the right to see:

  • The secondary school transition test. You can see which answers your child gave and the scores on different parts. You cannot go to your child’s school for this but must contact a test provider. You make a request to see it at the test provider where your child took the test. The viewing happens at the test provider’s office.
  • All made central exams.
  • If the made test is stored in the student file, parents have the right to see and copy the file. Most schools only put test results in the student file.

Student file

Your child’s personal data is in the student file. This means these data are covered by the General Data Protection Regulation. Is your child 16 years or younger? Then you as parent and the pupil can make a (written) request to see it. This viewing can happen with guidance. Also, a pupil can ask for a copy of the answers and the assessment.
