In some situations your child can receive money from the mbo student fund. When can your child get this? What rules apply? And how do you apply? We explain that to you.

Support for study delay 

Sometimes a student has study delay for a special reason. For example, illness, pregnancy, having a disability, or special family matters. The school can also add other cases where you can use the fund. The support is money: you get money. Your child can only get support for study delay if: 

• Your child follows a BOL course 
• Your child has no right to student finance anymore 

Support for school supplies for low-income families 

You can get support from the mbo student fund if you have no money to buy school items like a laptop, books, or work clothes. This help can be money: you get money. The school can also lend the items or buy them for your child. Your child can only get this help if: 

• Your child can show that there is no money to buy school supplies. 
• Your child follows a BOL course 
• Your child is under 18 years old 

Payment for participation in student council 

Is your child in the student council of the mbo school? Or does your child help the school or mbo in another way? For example in a board or school participation council. Then your child has the right to money payment. It does not matter how old your child is, if your child follows a BOL or BBL course, or if your child gets basic grant or not. 

Rules in mbo school policy 

The mbo school sets in policy which rules apply to the mbo student fund. It says how and when you can apply, how long the support lasts, and which amount or support the student can get. The student council has the right to agree on this policy of the school.
