Municipal council elections 18 March: will you vote?.
On march 18 it is time: the municipal elections. It may seem smaller than the national elections, but many important decisions for parents are made close to home. Decisions that directly affect your child's education.
The municipality decides on more than you think
The municipal council makes decisions about topics you and your child deal with daily, such as:
- School buildings. The municipality is responsible for new construction, maintenance and a healthy school building.
- Youth care and support. For example, help with learning problems, support for families and Tailored Education.
- Equal chances. Investments in pre- and early school education, libraries and after school activities.
Your vote makes a difference
Municipal elections often have a lower turnout than national elections in the Netherlands. Also during the municipal elections, parents can make a strong voice about what their children need. You can do this by voting.
