Ouders & Onderwijs would, as the name already reveals, be nothing without parents or education. Both are very important to us. But did you know that parents are also very important for education? Read below why.
- Expert about your child
No one knows your child better than you. You have important information that can help the school make education for your child as good as possible. You are the expert about your child. Together with the school you reach the best education for your child. - Better school results
Your child does better at school if they notice that you have high expectations and show confidence about this. Combined with good cooperation between you and the teacher this gives your child a safe feeling, so your child can perform optimally. - The very first teacher
Even before your child goes to school, they learn from you. This knowledge is a very important basis for your child’s learning path. And this basis is thanks to you as a parent. - Homework help
If homework needs to be done you are ready. Whether it is reading aloud, helping with sums, planning Dutch assignments or finding a good internship: you can count on parents. - Indispensable volunteers
Did you know that parents on average help 3 hours per month at school? Parents are indispensable for schools. By helping with activities at school, attending parent evenings and being active in the parent council or school participation council, parents contribute to the daily running of every school. - A helping hand
School can sometimes be hard or stressful. Does your child have exams, homework or other daily responsibilities at school? Then you are ready to motivate and support your child. Also outside school hours you give your child a helping hand. Did you know this support has a big positive influence on your child’s school results? - Confidence boost
Is your child insecure or stressed? You are the safe haven. Leave it to parents to cheer up their child and give a boost in confidence. - Communication is key
It is not obvious that your child can or dares to explain to the teacher what is not going well or what would help. Luckily you help with talking, asking and discussing at school. - Choosing profiles, electives or education?
Choosing a school, profile or education is and stays hard. Especially if your child does not know yet what seems fun. What does your child find interesting? What does your child want to become later? What is your child good at? Together with parents children discover their interests, hobbies and passions. - Go parents go!
Did your child get a good grade for a difficult test? Or did they graduate with hard work, or did they do something that was difficult? You stand on the sidelines cheering your child on. How nice is that!
You are therefore very important for your child’s basic development and priceless for the school and education. Besides supporting, listening and standing up for your child, you are always next to your child. And thanks to parent evenings, volunteering and giving information we make education a little better every time. Long live parents!
