27 May 2025 News

Filling a lunchbox for your child's first school day. It may sound simple, but you want to give something that is healthy, easy to eat, and that they will actually eat. And honestly, sometimes your inspiration just runs out. No worries: here are five fun and nutritious ideas to make that lunchbox a bit nicer!

Mini vegetable muffins

Savory muffins are ideal for small eaters. Think of a mix of grated carrot, zucchini, and bell pepper. Mix it with egg, milk, and flour and bake in muffin cups. A perfect size for the lunchbox. You can even freeze them, so handy to have in stock!

Wrap rolls with hummus and raw vegetables

Wraps always work well. Spread a (whole wheat) wrap with hummus, place some strips of cucumber, carrot, or bell pepper on it, roll up and cut into pieces. It looks nice and is nicely crunchy. The wrap rolls are also a good way to sneak in extra vegetables.

Fruit skewers with cheese

A simple hit: sticks with pieces of apple, grapes, and strawberry alternated with blocks of cheese. It looks cheerful and your child will probably enjoy picking up and biting into them.

Banana bread muffins

For when you want to give something sweet without grabbing cookies or cake: banana bread muffins. Use ripe bananas and optionally some oats or whole wheat flour. No added sugar needed, but still sweet and moist. Children love them!

Rice cake sandwich with peanut butter and banana

A simple, nutritious snack that you can also use as a bread substitute. Take two rice cakes, spread peanut butter on one and add banana slices. Cover with the second rice cake and optionally cut into smaller pieces. Tasty crunchy, filling, and a bit sweet.
