Follow our workshops at the law congress.
Are you a member of a school participation council? Then do not miss the law congress at the ReeHorst in Ede. Advisors from Ouders & Onderwijs offer three workshops. You can also visit our stand.
Law congress
On 7 November 2018 the law congress will take place in Ede. It will be a day full of inspiring workshops and lectures around the theme ‘contact with the base’. The offer of workshops and lectures fits perfectly with what you as a school participation council member deal with and encounter. Because the congress fills up quickly every year, we recommend you register soon. For the costs, you can use the facilitation budget of your school.
Workshops Ouders & Onderwijs
Ouders & Onderwijs is present with a stand at the congress. Our staff will talk to you there. In addition, we give three workshops during the day:
- Involved parents
- Promoting the elections
- Parent consultation
Involved parents
The aim is active communication and cooperation between parents and the school participation council/parent council. By informing parents and using them smartly as advisors and ambassadors. Parents like to contribute to the school of their child(ren). As a member of the school participation council/parent council, you do not have to do everything yourself. In the workshop we discuss appealing examples and options, like mentor evenings at the Leon van Gelderschool, the village school of Westerbroek, and a school participation council that calls on parents to use their expertise. This makes the school participation council/parent council work more fun and stronger.
Promoting the elections
Due to lack of interest, elections take place less often at schools. School participation councils are also not always fully staffed. By paying timely attention to the elections for the school participation council, you increase the chances of finding enough candidates. How to find them? The workshop shares tips and experiences.
Parent consultation
Parent input in school policy is formally done through the participation council. But sometimes it is needed or wished to consult all parents about school policy. A form of direct democracy that not everyone likes. Why hold a parent consultation? How to do it? What does it bring? Searching for motivations, experiences and tips.
Minister’s vision
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Slob, has indicated he will be present at the congress. He will share his vision on participation. Recent measures he took show that he values participation and the input of stakeholders highly.
Other speakers
The host is Hester Macrander, theatre director, teacher and trainer in Connecting Communication. Also Boris van der Ham, former politician, actor and chairman of the Humanistisch Verbond, is a speaker at the congress. He knows better than anyone how important contact with the base is. Van der Ham also gives a masterclass in the first workshop round focused on board members and school participation council chairpersons.
