Together We Are School: Also In The Interest Of Your Son Or Daughter.

Fewer conflicts and even more focus on cooperation between school and parents, that is the core of the campaign Together We Are School. With a kickoff on the Plein in The Hague and the launch of a website, the campaign has officially started.

Call together we are school

Together We Are School calls on parents and schools to work together more on the success and well-being of students.

Why this call?

To be honest, contact between school and parents does not always go well. Sometimes parents and school clash, maybe more often than before. For example, about expectations for special care for the child or a difference in educational views. The tension and work pressure caused by this are uncomfortable and not good for anyone.
At the same time, many things go well in Dutch schools. Every day, education professionals and parents work hard for the future of their students and children. Children are also more often actively involved. Good cooperation between parents and school is taking shape.
Ouders & Onderwijs, Verus, CPS and Driestar onderwijsadvies started a conversation about how cooperation between parents and school can be used positively. This is how the initiative Together We Are School began. Peter Hulsen, director of Ouders & Onderwijs: “For the comfort and learning success of children, it is necessary that all adults around the child work together.”

We need each other

Together We Are School focuses on good examples, tips and stories about great forms of cooperation between parents and school. We will share and add to these inspiring examples. There will be attention for Together We Are School for a year.
Education touches our whole society. By all contributing positively, we work towards a good future for all children in the Netherlands. In the national campaign Together We Are School:

• Schools and parents work together on the success and well-being of the student
• Parents and school respect each other’s specific expertise in education and upbringing
• Parents and school make decisions together about the development of their child/the student
• Parents and school invite everyone to follow the example of good cooperation.

Fragrant kickoff of the campaign together we are school

On September 11 the campaign Together We Are School started. On the Plein in The Hague, it became clear; education touches our whole society. By all contributing positively we work towards a good future for all children in the Netherlands. Eppo Bruins, Lodewijk Asscher and other members of parliament supported this call. They set a good example. Just like the enthusiastic children, parents and teachers of Montessorischool Valkenbos. Together with the initiators of Together We Are School and the stroopwafel baker with his fresh stroopwafels, they made the kickoff a great success. It is a pity we cannot record smells in a video.

Breakfast conversations

Together We Are School will continue to attract attention from parents, schools and educational organizations to cooperate more. With breakfast conversations at schools, we will discuss the theme. We will collect more good examples and also talk about what does not go well, what is difficult and how it can improve. The first breakfast conversation was already on Friday, September 14 at elementary school De Regenboog in Hoogezand.
