Parents and school want the same thing: the best for the child. Yet in practice, it does not always feel like you are on the same side. Expectations differ, conversations do not always run smoothly and tensions can arise. That is why this topic deserves the full attention of parents and school directors.

How do we make sure we really understand each other? How do we have the right conversation, even when it is difficult? And how do we build trust together, always putting the child’s interest first?

 

 

 

 

 

Come on Friday 25 september to the event that Ascenda organizes together with Ouders & Onderwijs. Get inspired, join the conversation and experience how meeting and dialogue contribute to stronger cooperation between parents and school or child center.

What can you expect?

You can count on an inspiring and interactive program with contributions from Daniëlle Woestenberg, Pedro De Bruyckere and Noëlle Pameijer. Led by chair Myrthe Meurders you will actively participate and get concrete tools to strengthen cooperation between parents and school.

• How do we improve communication between school and parents together?
• How do we handle different expectations and interests together?
• What does this ask of us, as parents and as school directors?
• How do we take responsibility together for the development of the child?

Conversation by doing

During the event we will actively work with a specially developed serious game titled ‘Come aboard!’. In mixed groups of parents and school directors we experience how perspectives differ and how this creates room to better understand each other and move forward together.

The game helps to:

• gain insight into each other’s perspective;
• make underlying dynamics visible;
• conduct the conversation in an open and equal way;
• gain insights you can immediately use in contact between school and home.

Building trust together

This event is about meeting, dialogue and reflection. By having a conversation together, we take a step toward a stronger partnership between parents and school or child center, in the interest of every child.

The event takes place at Leerhotel Het Klooster in Amersfoort.

Parents are invited to bring a school director, so school directors and parents can talk together.
