Secondary location & dislocation.

Schools can have part of the school at a different location. A dislocation is part of a school in another building and location than the main building. A secondary location was once an independent school.

Dislocation

A dislocation is part of the school used to solve lack of space in the main building. It is a necessary move of part of the school. For example, two groups that move to a temporary building or the upper years that go to a new school building. A dislocation is not a secondary location.

Secondary location

A dislocation is sometimes confused with a secondary location. Such a location is part of the school that used to be an independent school before it became part of the school. The former school merged with another school and became a secondary location. A location can have dislocations. For example, a secondary school with different locations that is part of a school partnership. The Education Executive Agency gives more information about secondary locations.
