Dyslexia

Children with dyslexia have a persistent problem learning and accurately and/or quickly using reading and/or spelling at the word level.

Dyslexia only applies if no other causes explain reading problems at school. Dyslexia can cause both reading and spelling problems, but these can also appear separately. Dyslexia is a disorder in technical reading. Dyslexia can block understanding reading when technical reading takes too much attention and energy.

Dyslexia care and costs

With severe dyslexia your child can get dyslexia care. Since 2015, dyslexia care is under the Youth law. Municipalities are responsible for organizing and paying for this care. They work with the school and youth mental health care. The health insurer no longer has a role in dyslexia care, not even in additional insurance.
