Angry parents to minister Slob.
Last week was the talk of Angry Parents with minister Slob and policy officers. This appointment was promised when the organization went to the Education Inspectorate in Utrecht on January 20.
At the ministry, minister Slob told the parents delegation that more focus must be put on involving education consultants in finding Tailored Education. Angry Parents criticize this because such a mediator only gets involved when the situation has already escalated.
Good
Minister Slob concluded that the information supply needs to improve. However, he pointed out that many things go well in education. Problems mainly occur with children who need the combination of duty of care and education. The minister will discuss this with ministers De Jonge (VWS) and Dekker (Legal Protection).
Angry Parents hold on to earlier demands. According to the parents’ collective, there must be insight into the number of children without Tailored Education. Furthermore, Angry Parents stress that more control is necessary on how money given to schools and Partnership Tailored Education for Tailored Education is spent. Angry Parents doubt if this amount reaches the right place: with student and teacher.
Education Inspectorate
There is also criticism of the role of the Education Inspectorate concerning the control of the duty of care. Research by Angry Parents shows that errors already occur in drafting a Development perspective plan with related action parts. However, the supervisor does not include this in its research. A school or Partnership Tailored Education can be required to do a restoration assignment in case of violation. But even then, it is uncertain if a suitable place for the student is found.
It quickly became clear at the ministry in The Hague that there is still much to discuss. Therefore, a follow-up appointment was made. To be continued.
