Education field parties: working together for school participation council.
Eight 'Field Parties' In Core Education, Including Ouders & Onderwijs, Have Sent A Letter To Minister Dijkgraaf. They Respond To The Report 'Steering On Quality And Equal Opportunities' And Say They Are Already Actively Working On Strengthening The School Participation Council In Education. They Do Not Want To Wait For New Policy From The Minister.
Letter To Minister Dijkgraaf
Good school participation council in education requires a joint effort from everyone involved. That is the message of the letter that Ouders & Onderwijs with eight other ‘field parties’ in core education sent to minister Dijkgraaf. Student organization LAKS, Ouders & Onderwijs, unions AOb, CNV Onderwijs and FvOv, school leaders association AVS, the Vereniging Openbaar Onderwijs, VO-raad and PO-Raad tell him in a joint letter that they are already working on it actively.
School Participation Council Can Be More Professional
There is a lot going on about this theme, all parties agree. The school participation council in education can definitely be more professional: this applies to the school participation councils themselves, but also to board members, school leaders and supervisors; dialogue, cooperation and accountability can be more firmly anchored. In addition, knowledge about the school participation council is less known than the nine signatories would like.
Much To Improve
There is much to improve, for example by more communication: ‘Existing and upcoming rights of the school participation council should be better highlighted.’ Spreading guidelines about the school participation council should help, also because it helped in the past raise the quality of the school participation council.
Importance Of Close Cooperation
The nine field parties in core education emphasize the importance of close cooperation. The commitment to the larger goal of strong school participation council has not changed, but has been strengthened by all parties, as stated in the letter. ‘That is why we now look forward to renewed and strengthened cooperation on this important subject, which also connects to the wishes expressed by the cabinet in the coalition agreement.’
