Incorrect test advice, what now?.

Due to an error in the calculation of the final test, some of the pupils who took the final test this year received an incorrect test advice. This applies to pupils who took the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, or AMN final test. The test advice for these pupils must be recalculated. Pupils do not need to retake the test. The score achieved is correct. There are no consequences for pupils who took the Central final test.

Is my child’s advice still correct?

It is important to check which final test your child took. The wrong calculation did not affect the test advice of the Central final test. Pupils who took this final test do not need to do anything. Did your son or daughter take the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, or AMN final test? The school will inform you as soon as possible about what this might mean for your child.

I do not know which test my child took? Where can I find it?

All pupils in group 8 take a final test. There are five approved final tests. The IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, AMN final test, and the Central final test. Schools can choose which final test they use. You can ask your school which test your child took.

My child still took the Cito test?

Many people still know the Cito test, which was common in Dutch primary schools for years. Since 2015, there are other test providers. Schools choose which final test they give. They can choose from five approved final tests: the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, AMN final test, and the Central final test. Cito is still involved in one of the final tests, the Central final test. You can ask your school which test your child took.

What happened?

An error occurred when translating a pupil’s final test score into a suitable secondary school level. This caused them to receive incorrect test advice. That is why the test advice for pupils who took the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, or AMN final test must be recalculated. Pupils do not need to retake the test. The score achieved is correct. The problem is not due to the test providers. The incorrect calculation was made by independent experts.

This is a very unfortunate situation, especially for the pupils affected and their parents.

Which pupils are affected?

The wrong calculation affects pupils who took the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, or AMN final test. Some pupils were assigned to a different level than would fit their test result. The test advice for these pupils must be recalculated.

There are no consequences for pupils who took the Central final test. That means their test advice stays the same. These pupils and their parents do not need to do anything.

What should I do now?

It is important to check which final test your child took. The wrong calculation did not affect the test advice of the Central final test.

If your son or daughter took the IEP final test, ROUTE 8, Dia final test, or AMN final test, the school will inform you as soon as possible about what this might mean for your child. On Tuesday, May 21, the test providers informed schools about the situation and asked schools to inform their pupils and parents about what this means for them.

My child attends special education, does this apply to her?

This concerns all schools in primary education that gave a final test, including Special primary education.
