Language development disorder in children: what can you do as a parent?.
Do you have a child with a language development disorder (TOS)? During treatment, there is much attention for the child with (a suspicion of) TOS and what the child needs. Because of this, there is often less attention for what parents experience and how they can deal with it. It helps if you know which questions you can ask your child's therapist.
Language development in your child
Is your child’s language development different from that of children their age? Your child might have a language development disorder. In short: TOS. As a parent, you might wonder what this means for the future. Or what you need to arrange. It also means a lot for you as a parent and your family.
Question booklet for parents
In the care of children with TOS, good cooperation between parents and professionals is important. By working together, you achieve more. Deelkracht (a program by ZonMw) has developed a question booklet for parents with a child with (the suspicion of) TOS. The booklet is meant to bring up topics. Parents can get ideas from the examples about questions they can ask. This way, you can prepare well for talks with the people treating your child.
