Launch Of Learning Environment For Nursing Help.

26 November 2019 News

How do you use an inhaler, give painkillers, or inject? When giving nursing care to your child, it is important that you know exactly what to do. In cooperation with the Association for Intensive Child Care (BVIKZ), the digital learning environment of Parent and Child Education (OKE) was developed.

Website

The Website guides parents step by step when giving nursing help. Instruction material is available, and video and image material further support parents. The purpose of the learning module is to add to the practical instructions that the hospital or care institution gives.

Purpose

The OKE program aims to help parents, young people, and care professionals learn various nursing techniques. Parents and young people get lessons with educational material so they can perform a task independently. For care professionals, a teaching module is available so they can teach tasks to young people.

At school

Information points are already available for teachers at school. For example, the Diabetes Association Netherlands has an informative website. There, school staff can see exactly how to best support pupils in measuring and interpreting blood glucose, determining the amount, and giving insulin.

Cooperation

OKE is part of the Medical Child Care System. Besides BVIKZ, Amsterdam UMC, Allerzorg, and the Ministry of Health and Sport worked on the initiative.
