Measures in education remain (for now) absent.
Last Friday prime minister Rutte announced at the press conference he wants to lower the number of infections ‘with a hard blow’. Measures in education remained absent. The ministry of OCW explains why.
According to the ministry it has the highest priority that students ‘can continue to go to school responsibly’. Especially now students must ‘catch up on learning delays caused earlier by corona. This is crucial for students in a vulnerable position.’
Additional measures
Schools get the option to take additional measures themselves. However, this must be done in consultation with the school participation council. It is also necessary that lessons continue as much as possible. ‘It is explicitly not the intention that schools switch to online education or give lessons only half of the week,’ the ministry writes.
Practical education track
Students who follow the practical education track at an mbo location or in a (learning) company must follow the rules that apply at that location. This also applies to internships and lob activities.
Complaints
The idea is that children with complaints (for example, cold with fever, shortness of breath and/or a lot of coughing) get tested at the GGD and wait for the result at home. Students who test positive for corona stay at home until they have been free of complaints for 24 hours, at least 7 days after the test.
Home quarantine
If students must stay home in home quarantine because of corona, schools will consult as much as possible with parents and students about the possibilities for distance education. The choice to give distance education remains explicitly the school’s decision.
