National Parent Panel Counts 3500 Parents.

22 October 2018 News

A new milestone for the Landelijk Ouderpanel: we have reached the limit of 3500 parents! The intended goal when founding the panel in 2017 was 3000. We are very proud and happy that we can make the voice of so many fathers and mothers heard.

The voice of parents

The voice of parents should sound louder in education, youth(health)care, science, government, and politics. That is our ambition. Together with Stichting Opvoeden.nl we took on the challenge to make that happen. Now the Landelijk Ouderpanel is an essential part of our organizations.

Many achievements

For our organizations, listening to parents is important. We use results to talk with educational partners and politics. The studies help Stichting Opvoeden.nl to improve parenting information. Parents want to make their voice heard: the panel already had more than 1000 parents in one year! This year, we studied how parents think about the school guide, career and orientation support, parent fees for school trips and digital learning tools, privacy, Student monitoring systems and homework support.

Now keep going!

With a parent panel of more than 3500 parents, we can make stronger statements. This way, we make the voice of parents louder at schools, youth healthcare organizations, and government. The polls will continue. This week, parents say what they think about school advice and the final test. We send that information to the Minister of Education. We also think about research topics for next year.

What do parents say?

Guido Verboom is one of the fathers from the Landelijk Ouderpanel. “I like to be aware of my parenting role. By joining the panel, I have a way to sharpen my thoughts, know what is going on, and contribute to the public discussion about this.

Mahwish Ashraf, mother of two, says: “The panel has parents like you and me who give their opinion on many topics so parenting information matches parents’ needs. It is important that parents with different views, backgrounds, and family setups join the panel so it shows a good picture of all parents. This information is processed anonymously, but also discussed with professionals and the government. So parents really have a voice here!

Diversity

Most parents have two children. But the panel also has parents with more than five children. The Landelijk Ouderpanel includes about 15 nationalities, such as Turkish, Moroccan, Surinamese, Polish, Peruvian, English, and Iranian. Diversity is an important part of our panel. When all parents join the talk, you can really say something.

Do you also want to think and talk? Sign up too. We especially want fathers and parents with a non-Dutch background so we can really speak for all parents. Of course, all parents are very welcome! Read more about the panel or register now!
