Ouders & Onderwijs and LBVSO have made a call to employers united in Koninklijk Nederlands Vervoer (KNV) and the unions for drivers of target group transport (CNV and FNV) about the student transport. We are seriously worried about the announced strikes in care and student transport.

Problems within the student transport

Children with a disability or who attend special primary education are often dependent on student transport to get to school. Long travel times, many changing drivers, and unsafe situations in the vans. We have asked for attention to the problems in student transport for some time. A solution or improvement is not yet visible. And this school year, the problems continue to increase.

The announced strikes

Ouders & Onderwijs recognizes the problems of the driver shortage, the unattractiveness of the job, and the tight labor market. Now the strike adds more pressure on their school attendance. The announced strikes are terrible for the students involved and their parents.

Our call

We call on the employers in KNV and the unions CNV to return to the table as soon as possible and reach a good collective labor agreement that fits the needed (quality) improvement of the student transport. Do not let these children suffer more and miss education.
