Summer games for all ages.

21 July 2022 News

It is vacation! And that is not the time to be bored. Slippers on and go, because after reading these summer tips for your child and yourself, staying inside is no longer an option.

4 – 6 years

  • Folding fortune tellers. A homemade game that is so easy to make. Your child can come up with the tasks, and every fortune teller is different. What it is and how it works you can read here.
  • Insect memory. Find and match as many different insects as you can within two hours. The winner gets an ice cream. And the loser also.

7 – 11 years

  • Playing marbles. It may sound a bit nostalgic – and it is – but playing marbles has so many options that there is surely something your child will like.
  • Water balloon fight without balloons. For a sustainable water fight, you can swap balloons for splash balls. Or just a kitchen sponge. Throw away!
  • Looking for edible flowers and plants. There is a lot of edible stuff in nature. You can find a lot of information about which plants and flowers are edible on the internet or in bookstores. This also saves you from shopping.

12 – 15 years

  • Building an insect hotel. Not everyone likes little bugs, but they are very important. And insects want to visit a hotel sometimes. How to build an insect hotel best? You can read here!
  • Building huts in the forest. No one is too old to build a hut. Bring a drill, hammer, and nails, and get ready to build. Not only fun, but also very educational!

16 – 18 years

  • Stand-up paddleboarding. It looks a bit like surfing, but without waves and with a paddle. Stand-up paddleboarding is very trendy and a safe way to move over the water. You don’t have to travel far to rent a board: they are found throughout the country.
  • Playing kubb in the park. Two teams, ten wooden blocks, six sticks, and one king. Kubb is an active game you play outside. The game rules? The kids will google them.

Parents

  • Just do nothing for a while…

Hopefully, these tips are enough to get through the coming weeks. If not? Then we can always just go to the swimming pool the old-fashioned way.
