Tips for support for chronically ill pupils.

3 December 2019 News

Is it possible to get extra time for school exams? When do you have the right to tools? And is a diagnosis needed for support? Many questions come from students with chronic illness, parents, and school staff. Stichting Zorgeloos naar School made a do-it-together guide with answers for everyone involved.

Collaboration

The downloadable guide from Stichting Zorgeloos naar School gives concrete tips to organize support at school as well as possible. The guide suits students with different physical conditions and was made in collaboration with students, parents, schools, and education professionals.

Regular education

The starting point is that these students should be able to follow regular education well. Small adjustments in the classroom make it easier for everyone involved. A student pass shows at a glance the support that applies to the student.

Diabetes

On average, each regular class has three students with a chronic condition. Common ones for children and young people include chronic headache, asthma, or stomach problems. Stichting Zorgeloos naar School follows the Stichting Zorgeloos met Diabetes naar School. The success of support for students with diabetes led to this broader initiative.
