Problems with the delivery of school books again.

Also this school year many students in secondary education start with an incomplete book package. Ouders & Onderwijs examines every year how many parents and students face delayed delivery of schoolbooks. The annual survey of the Landelijk Ouderpanel shows that also this year books are still regularly missing. 

Starting the school year without a complete book package

How many students start without a complete book package differs per region. 

At the time of the flash survey some students were already in their second school week. Yet 16% of the parents said their child had not yet received all schoolbooks. That is comparable to 2025. Then 19% of the students started their second school week without a complete book package.  

Some schools just started again. There 30% of the students had to start without all schoolbooks. That is more than in 2025. Then 20% of the students did not have a complete book package on the first school day.   

At other schools the holiday is almost over. There 30% of the students are still waiting to see if their books will be delivered on time. That percentage is slightly lower than last year. Then 36% of the students had not received all books in their last holiday week.

Less delay at Osinga de Jong

Last year parents mainly faced delays with supplier Osinga de Jong. This year this supplier comes out best. 

In the North and South regions, where schools have already started, only 3% of the parents said not all books were delivered. In 2025 that was still 33%. 

Also in the Central region it is better this year. There 16% of the parents said not all books were received. Last year that was 67%. 

Most delivery problems seem to be with Declaration of Admissibility/Van Dijk this year. In the North and South regions 21% of parents said not all schoolbooks were delivered. In 2025 that was 12%. 

In the Central region 18% of the parents said not all books were received through Declaration of Admissibility/Van Dijk. That is lower than last year, when that percentage was 26%.
