Compensation for students 18 years and older.
Parents receive child benefit until their child turns 18. If your child is still in secondary school after that, you as a parent can apply for a compensation for students. Who is this for? What are your rights? And how can you apply? You can read that here.
Who is the compensation for students for?
The compensation is for students from 18 to 30 years old in secondary education, secondary special education, and general adult secondary education. This compensation has a basic allowance for everyone and an extra allowance for students with parents with a low income.
Basic allowance for everyone
The basic allowance does not depend on the parents’ income. Every child between 18 and 30 years in secondary education has the right to it. The amount depends on the student’s living situation. If your child lives at home, the amount is lower than if your child lives on their own. The basic allowance is a gift.
Extra allowance depending on income
The extra allowance depends on the parents’ income. It also depends on the type of school your child attends. The allowance has several parts:
- – compensation for school costs
- – compensation for tuition fees
- – students in general adult secondary education and private secondary education qualify for the tuition fee compensation.
