Parent contribution digital learning tools.
More and more primary and secondary schools use digital learning tools like tablets or laptops. Who pays for them? What about a separate iPad class and the parent contribution? We explain this in this article.
Laptop of tablet verplicht? De school betaalt
Scholen kunnen ervoor kiezen om de boeken (gedeeltelijk) via licenties digitaal beschikbaar te stellen. Je kind krijgt dan geen papieren boeken meer. Zonder tablet, laptop of pc kan je kind het onderwijs niet volgen. In dat geval moet de school ervoor zorgen dat je kind een laptop, tablet of computer tot diens beschikking heeft. Daarbij maakt het dan niet uit of de school een specifiek type voorschrijft of niet. De school mag een vrijwillige bijdrage vragen, maar in deze situatie mag de school ouders niet verplichten te betalen. Ook wanneer de school kiest voor een aparte klas binnen de school waar de lessen via de iPad of een ander digitaal leermiddel worden gegeven. Als een school een iPadklas aanbiedt, moet school ervoor zorgen dat iedere leerling daaraan kan deelnemen. Je kind mag ook zonder betaling dus gewoon meedoen.
Niet eens met de school
Houdt de school zich niet aan bovenstaande regels? Of ben je het niet eens met het beleid van de school rondom digitale leermiddelen? Dan kun je in eerste instantie terecht bij de school zelf. Ook de ouders in de medezeggenschapsraad op school hebben inspraak op digitale leermiddelen. Helpt dat niet? Dan kun je soms terecht bij de Onderwijsinspectie of een klachteninstantie.

Voluntary parent contribution finally legally regulated
From 1 August the law on voluntary parent contribution is active. It means that students can always join all extra activities at school. Whether parents pay the contribution or not no longer matters. This applies both in primary education and in secondary education.
