The school does research.
If you worry about your child at school, you can best discuss it with the teacher, mentor, internal support coordinator, or care coordinator.
School support profile
What your child’s school can do is stated in the school support profile and in the school guide. When this help does not solve the problem, the school can ask a school guidance service or education advice service for help with your permission.
Research
Research done with the school can show the cause of the problems and give clues for possible solutions. Research can be didactic (about school skills) or psychological (about intelligence and personality). The school research shows if a child meets criteria to get a diagnosis. Always ask the school first what they will do with the research data.
Sharing research
If the school orders research about your child, the right to block applies. This means parents (and the pupil) must be informed first about the results. Parents can decide if the research is shared with the school or not. This also counts when the school is responsible for the research.
Care budget
The school has a care budget that can be used for research and extra help in the classroom. Usually this budget is enough for the care the child needs at school. Sometimes parents are asked to pay the costs. Then parents can ask their own health insurer or the municipality for a refund for the help or tools. A referral letter from the family doctor or youth/school doctor is needed for this.
