What does cum laude mean?
Cum laude means your child graduates “with honors.” It is an honorable title for a special achievement. Sometimes your child has a better chance to be selected or admitted to certain courses with a cum laude diploma after the central final exams.
When can your child graduate cum laude for vwo?
To graduate cum laude for vwo, your child must meet the following requirements:
- The average final grades are 8 or higher without rounding. This includes the following subjects: the common subjects of the profile, the subjects in the profile part, the subject from the free part with the highest grade, and the combination grade.
- No final grade is lower than 7.
- For subjects without a grade, no insufficient result.
When can your child graduate cum laude for havo?
To graduate cum laude for havo, your child must meet the following requirements:
- The average final grades are 8 or higher without rounding. This includes the following subjects: the common subjects of the profile, the subjects in the profile part, the subject from the free part with the highest grade, and the combination grade.
- No final grade is lower than 6.
- For subjects without a grade, no insufficient result.
When can your child graduate cum laude for vmbo-tl?
To graduate cum laude for the vmbo theoretical learning path, your child must meet the following requirements:
- The average final grades are 8 or higher without rounding. This includes the following subjects: Dutch, English, social studies, the subjects of the sector part, and the subject from the free part with the highest grade.
- No final grade is lower than 6.
- For subjects without a grade, no insufficient result.
When can your child graduate cum laude for vmbo-gl?
To graduate cum laude for the vmbo mixed learning path, your child must meet the following requirements:
- The average final grades are 8 or higher without rounding. This includes the following subjects: Dutch, English, social studies, the subjects of the sector part, and the general subject from the free part or the combination grade.
- No final grade is lower than 6.
- For subjects without a grade, no insufficient result.
When can your child graduate cum laude for vmbo-bb and vmbo-kb?
To graduate cum laude for vmbo basic vocational or vmbo framework learning paths, your child must meet the following requirements:
- The average final grades are 8 or higher without rounding. This includes the following subjects: the two general subjects from the profile part, the profile subject, and the combination grade (the average final grade of the vocational choice subjects).
- No final grade is lower than 6.
- For subjects without a grade, no insufficient result.
