Secondary school transition test plan exam rules.

The school sets rules for the school exams. You can find these rules in the program for testing and completion and the exam regulations. But what is in a program for testing and completion or exam regulations? Can you deviate from it? And how is supervision arranged? Read all about it.

What is in the program for testing and completion?

Every secondary school has a program for testing and completion. This document has the main information and rules about the school exams.

For example, how many school exams your child takes per subject, when these tests are, and how much the results count. In the program for testing and completion, you can read about:

  • The period when the tests and retakes take place.
  • Which material is tested in the exams.
  • How the school exams are taken. These can be oral, practical, or written tests.
  • How the school decides the grade.
  • How your child can retake tests.

What is in the exam regulations?

The exam regulations have the rules about how the exam is organized. Like where exams are held, how supervision is arranged, and what happens if your child misses a school exam. The exam regulations include:

  • What happens in case of irregularities, such as being late, cheating, and unauthorized absence
  • Rules about the exam organization, like where exams take place and who supervises
  • The process during the exam
  • Rules about when your child can and cannot retake the exam
  • How the appeals committee is made up, and who you can contact if you disagree with a decision about your school exams.

Can the school deviate from the rules?

Material not in the program for testing and completion cannot be part of a school exam test. In individual and special cases, the school can deviate from the program for testing and completion and exam regulations.

For example, to participate in an extracurricular competition or to study a physics topic outside the material. The exam committee decides on this. The program for testing and completion must still meet the national exam program rules.

Supervision and control of school exams

The exam committee or exam secretary makes sure the rules are followed and is responsible for all exam matters. The secondary school transition test plan and the exam rules must be set every year before 1 October for at least that school year.

The school must send the secondary school transition test plan to the education inspectorate. You and your child also must get the information from the school. The school participation council of the school has agreement power over setting or changing the secondary school transition test plan.

Is something not following the rules? Or do you have another problem with the school exams? Then contact the appeals committee. You can find the contact details in the exam rules.
