Mbo level 1: entry course.

Mbo has four different levels. The diploma your child earned in secondary school decides the mbo level they can join. The entry level is level 1, also called the entry course. What admission requirements apply? What will your child learn? And what can your child do with the diploma? Read it in this article.

Who is the mbo level 1 course for?

The entry course is for children who do not have a diploma to enter another mbo level. For example, children from the practical education track or children who for some reason dropped out of secondary school. Your child must be at least 16 years old to start the entry course. The course usually takes 1 year.

Content of the mbo level 1 course

At level 1 your child learns what it takes to work in a company or institution. For example, how to make appointments and how to work with colleagues and customers. Also, general subjects like Dutch and math are included. With help from teachers, your child chooses a career profile. In the entry course, your child finds what they enjoy and are good at. There is much personal attention and guidance during the study.

After the course

Mbo courses at level 1 train your child to become an assistant in many sectors. Your child can start working right after the course. If your child wants to learn more, they can continue to an mbo course at level 2: the basic vocational course.
