Mbo level 4: middle management and specialist training.
Mbo has four different levels. The diploma your child earned before decides which mbo level they can enter. Mbo level 4 has two types of courses: the middle management course and specialist course. What admission rules apply? What does your child learn? And what can your child do with the diploma? Read about it in this article.
Middle management course
Your child can follow a mbo 4 course if they finished an mbo 2 course or earned at least a vmbo-kader diploma. Students with a promotion certificate from three to four havo or vwo also meet the rules for mbo 4. If your child does not meet these rules, an admission test is possible. The course lasts three or four years.
Specialist course
The specialist course is for students who want to continue learning in the same job after earning the mbo-3 diploma. The specialist course usually takes one year.
Course content mbo level 4
A level 4 course prepares your child to perform tasks fully by themselves. This includes jobs like branch manager and activity leader. Your child can also continue studying at a university of applied sciences after this course.
BOL or BBL
Your child follows a vocational training path (BOL) or a vocational guidance path (BBL). Not every mbo school offers both paths. Some have only BOL or only BBL courses. When choosing, it is important to check how this is arranged at your child’s mbo school.
After the course
After finishing the mbo 4 study, your child can start working. Many sectors want workers with an mbo diploma. If your child wants to continue studying after level 4, it is possible to move on to a university of applied sciences.
